During the week of May 13th, the emerging string quartet Cuarteto Lignum was a guest at Haus der Musik. The Mexican instrumentalists experienced five days packed with exciting encounters, such as a concert at the Mexican Embassy, two master classes with Prof. Josef Hell of the Vienna Philharmonic, as well as sightseeing and museum visits in the city centre, led by HdM information trainer Diego Ondarza.
The concert in the HdM courtyard on May 15th was a complete success. The young musicians Javier Alfonso Medina, Cristian Páez, Fernando Dominguez and Roni Gordillo played for a full house. International museum visitors stayed to listen to the sound of the talented young musicians, Viennese classical music enthusiasts came to Haus der Musik on this rainy day in order to brighten up their day. The program was: Borodin Quartet No. 2, Beethoven Quartet No. 4, 4th movement Revueltas, música de feria Ponce Estrellita Piazzolla Oblivion and Libertad. Thunderous applause was guaranteed because the quartet performed brilliantly and two of the members are merely 16 years old. After their stay in Vienna, they went on to Italy, where the European tour ended in Trento on 20th May. ¡Buen viaje, Cuarteto Lignum!
