Vienna is considered the world capital of music. But there is only one place where young people can explore sounds, trace the stars of Viennese classical music, feel the sound waves and conduct orchestras themselves: The House of Music.

The museum, which also organizes concerts and rents out event locations, aims to break down cultural barriers and raise people's awareness of music, explains director Simon Posch: "We are a place of lively debate that opens up new approaches to music. People should come to us with curiosity, return to their everyday lives with a melody on their lips and take something with them for their lives. Culture and music can be a powerful force of connection and inspiration. We want to unleash this power with our broad offering."

Since it opened in 2000 - five years later Wien Holding took over the operation - the number of visitors has doubled to more than 243,000 people per year. Many guests are tourists and schoolchildren. However, most visitors come from Austria, followed by Germany and the USA.

In Mexico, Puebla, a similar museum was built after a license was granted. In 2023, a cooperation was launched in China, where a sound museum is also being built. Haus der Musik is also an ambassador and partner of the Lang Lang International Music Foundation, which brings music closer to children and gives them access to instruments. Honorary President of the House of Music is star conductor Zubin Mehta.
