Summa Cum Laude

Young people making music, singing and performing in the Haus der Musik on 6th and 7th July 2008

The "Summa Cum Laude" International Youth Music Festival in Vienna's Musikverein concert hall is unlike any other of the many youth music competitions: unconventional, informal, yet of the highest standard.  The Haus der Musik is also involved as a location and stage for the young musicians.

Via Musica (Vienna International Association for Music and Cultural Exchange) organises the "Summa Cum Laude" International Youth Music Festival which is held every year in Vienna, taking place this year from 5th to 9th July.  It offers choirs, orchestras and bands the opportunity to appear before a jury of well-known personalities, either as part of the competition or in a non-competitive performance, in one of the most prestigious musical locations in the world.  Young people under the age of 26 extend their musical training in unique workshops and external concerts as well as getting to know other young people with the same interests.

As Simon K. Posch, CEO of Haus der Musik says, "International dialogue and swapping experiences are core driving forces for the advancement of creative young people.  That is why we are so pleased to be able to host "Summa Cum Laude" and support the event as much as we can."

On 6th and 7th July various international youth choirs will perform throughout the day in the Inner Courtyard of Haus der Musik; admission is free.
