Launching the Autumn Season with verve and energy
After a long summer, autumn sees a resumption of "business as usual" at Haus der Musik with a full programme of events. In addition to the familiar face of Marko Simsa, who celebrates the 20th anniversary of his performing career with a special anniversary concert at Haus der Musik, a second children's entertainer is to appear regularly this season: Bernhard Fibich, whose songs and children's activities will no doubt meet with just as lively a response.
"Live on Stage" offers another programme of highlights and rarities: Richard McGraw will be making his debut appearance at the city's Sound Museum, while Francis International Airport and the Broken Family Band will be the main attractions at the "Long Night of Museums" on 4 October 2008. The Billy Rubin Trio will also be featuring in the Live on Stage series, the singer, songwriter and music journalist Robert Rotifer is coming to Vienna, and two wonderfully talented Austrian singer-songwriters, Mika Vember & Martin Klein, will be giving a double concert in December.
There's plenty more happening too, not least a surprise event featuring the great Hermann Nitsch, one of the most important of contemporary Austrian artists. We don't want to give away any more than that at this early stage. A number of exciting innovations have also been planned for the Sound Museum itself in 2009.
Visitor numbers during the summer months were more than satisfactory and have helped compensate for the lull caused by the European Football Championships which affected nearly all of Vienna's museums and cultural institutions.
Finally, we'd like to issue an invitation: in view of the high-quality and very busy Live on Stage programme, it's definitely worth purchasing a Member Card. Not only does this give you free admission to Haus der Musik for a whole year, it also provides you with free access to all live on stage concerts - an opportunity that's too good to miss.

Marko Simsa celebrates 20 years of performing on stage while Bernhard Fibich makes his debut at Haus der Musik. From this point onwards we offer a "double-strength" programme of children's events. Each of these "enchanters of children" will appear at least once a month, delighting children and parents alike. |

More than half a million visitors throughout Austria with Haus der Musik as one of its key attractions. Such was the success of last year's "Long Night of Music", initiated by Austrian national broadcaster ORF. This year's event can be expected to be every bit as popular, with even more locations and special attractions at the Sound Museum in the heart of Vienna's city centre. |
