Chopin in Vienna

Special exhibition from 4 March to 30 April 2010

Three cities played an important role In Frédéric Chopin's life: Warsaw, Paris and Vienna. He grew up and received his musical training in Warsaw. He further developed his talents in Paris, where he also lived and died. And finally, he spent nine months in Vienna. On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of his birth, Haus der Musik is presenting a special exhibition devoted to his time in Vienna.

Live on Stage January - April 2010: Scandinavian and Austrian musical art!

Every month of the year 2010 there will be Austrian and international artists performing at Haus der Musik.
The opening act of this year's Live on Stage program will be the Danish "Choir Of Young Believers", followed by the Viennese Band "Curbs" in February. "Nervous Nellie" from Sweden is going to be the perfect act to bid farewell the cold winter days. And in spring the Indie sound of the Viennese Band "Deckchair Orange" will encourage to dance and welcome the first shafts of sunshine.

Concert of the Mozart Boys Choir Vienna

Starting in January 2010, the renowned Mozart Boys Choir Vienna will sing once a month in the Inner Courtyard of Haus der Musik. Free admission!

With Mai Cocopelli we may introduce our small visitors in the Haus der Musik an other artist who knows to inspire children with music. Marko Simsa, Bernhard Fibich and Mai Cocopelli pull children with your concert programmes in their own manner in the spell and animate for taking part!

Chopin Around - Frédéric Chopin goes Jazz!

Inspiriert von Frédéric Chopins Préludes op. 28 perfomen die Musiker Agata Zubel, Cezary Duchnowski, Jacek Kochan, Andrzej Bauerund Maciej Walczak am 16. April 2010 um 19.00 Uhr im Veranstaltungssaal des Haus der Musik. Wir dürfen uns auf einen unterhaltsamen Abend mit Chopin-Crossover freuen!

Live on Stage Special: The Unthanks

Haus der Musik, in cooperation with Vienna Songwriting Association, proudly presents a Live on Stage-Special by The Unthanks on April 25, 2010, at 8pm. English folk music - peppered with drums and bass, piano and violin themes as well as a melancholic mix of accordion and woodwinds.

An attraction for the public with new features.

The most popular interactive attraction at the Sound Museum, the Virtual Conductor, has been re-programmed in the last couple of months, involving intensive efforts of our technical department. Great new features and new pieces of music have been added and we can't wait for the premiere of the new Virtual Conductor at the end of November.

The New Year's Concert

For the second time in succession, the 2009 New Year's Concert was conducted by Viennese favourite Georges Prêtre. Once again he managed to make it into a memorable event that included some relatively little known works. The result is well worth a listen.
